10/3/2018 After a five point inspection on 8/2018 at 27,000 miles. Toyota said brakes all good at 8mm. On 10/3/2018 I brought the car to dealer after hearing a high pitch screeching sound for about a week in rear, plus my left wheel was burning hot when touched and the other 3 wheels were cool after driving 20 miles stop and go. Dealer said it was the way I drove, and "environmental" Had tech drive with me and he heard it. They dx the problem as Rear Pad brakes frozen in bracket and rust on left brake. They R & R with rear pads and rotors. They said the brake caliper tab was sitting sideways. SO HOW CAN THIS BE ENVIRONMENTAL RUST AFTER 30,000 MILES?? AND THE OTHER 3 BRAKES WERE GOOD???

The Regional manager denied any reimbursement and said it is environmental that cause my brakes to rust, just one of them??? It went from 8mm to 10 mm in one month? They did not tell me how the tab went sideways??? I spoke to them about a safety issue and they didn't listen. I spoke about how hot the wheel got and all they said was when it gets stuck it creates heat. On the dx paper it said the rotor pad was white from the heat and worn unevenly!!! Now how is that caused, the way I drive on one brake? Look at my next complaint dated 10/16/2019. It happened again on same left rear brake. Toyota is denying the problem, to recall cars, they are saying to tell us it is an environmental and came from the Service Manager. I said is this to happen again, isn't it a danger?! You can only hear the beginnings of the sound only if windows are down. Toyota is scamming customers to believe it is environmental when it is a faulty material in system.

Last year on 10/3/18 I brought car in for screeching back sound, and left rear wheel was burning hot after a 5 pt inspection that said all brakes were in good condition at 8mm. In one month the left rear wheel brake were frozen in bracket with rust on the inside of rotor pads turning white from the heat and warn unevenly. We got the old pads and rotors and took them to a mechanic and they said it it more then that, it could be defect in calipers, brake line etc.

Toyota fixed the problem in 2018, mind you this is a 2017 model car bought in late 2016 . When it happened the first time, it was repaired with only 30,000 miles. I drove car, went 11,000 miles and again the same sound and heat on wheel occurred with back left rear brake. This time again, "environmental". But it gets better. They said they couldn't find anything wrong. They only test drove it for a few miles not what I told them. They found the rear back brakes to be at 7mm now, they are brand new from 2018? The front being only 6 mm after 40,000 miles. So how is it a new pair of back pads and rotors got to be 7mm!!! They diagnosed the problem again as the pads getting stuck in the caliber bracket!!!! They rectified it by cleaning and lubing it.

I spoke to Service manage and he ADMITTED that Toyota headquarters knows of the problem. They are telling them to tell us it is environmental and will not admit to any other issue as to poor quality of materials that are breaking down with environment all due to moisture??? So we as customers have to pay for repairs as to "environmental" a scam that Toyota is doing with customers so they don't have to fix the problem or recall it. I then again said to the Manager this is a safety issue! Stating you want me to drive a car that the back rear brakes can just get stuck??? wearing the pads down so fast that I don't have brakes? DONT let Toyota tell you that it is environmental. Make your complaint known not through hear , but go to the government page... United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) National Safety make your compliant, and go to the lemon law site. TOYOTA SHOULD DO GOOD ON THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
