Had a "NEW" transmission installed under factory warranty at 48000 miles, now at 63000, transmission is out again. Toyota of Bowling Green Kentucky refuses to do anything about it, without me paying them 6500.00 for another "NEW" transmission, claiming it is not their problem since the factory warranty is now out. I seriously doubt that they installed a "NEW" transmission at 48000 miles as they claimed, but only rigged the old one to last till the warranty was out. Now here I am with an almost new car that has gone through 2 transmissions, with countless hours and days of trouble to me and still don't run. Needless to say I am not happy with Toyota or their dealer in Bowling Green KY. I will certainly never own another Toyota, PERIOD.
Update from Jan 30, 2019: After talking extensively with Toyota customer support, the dealership agreed to pay half the cost of another new transmission, which is 3200.00 my part. When they replaced the transmission, the grinding noise was still there. Next they said the trans axle was the culprit, which they agreed to replace at their own expense. The bottom line is, was it really the transmission which cost me 3200.00, or was it the trans axle all along, which was misdiagnosed? No explanation, no test drive, no face to face talk with a service manager, or mechanic, no nothing. Simply, pay us 3200.00, here is your key, now leave. After 8 weeks of borrowing friend's cars, and doing without our car,(they did give us a loaner the last week of this fiasco) we still don't know for sure what the problem was, or if it is fixed. A sour taste for Toyota on this whole deal, but since another car is financially out of the question right now, we got what we got, and have to live with it. Would I buy another Toyota? I don't know.
