Contacted two Toyota Service centers, both of which aknowledged they heard about the problem before. One of the service specialists even told me he had the same model/year with the same issue. Toyota knows its a manufacturing problem. My car was 2 years when I took it to the Dealer, they said the warranty was void because the car had over 40,000 miles on it. Offered to repair for $486.85.
I guess it is a known problem, there are even forums discussing the problem. It must be a manufacturing problem and a recall should be issued.
Don't think a knocking sound over the child seat of one of my kids should be taken lightly. Yet, its a lot of money for a known issue that's not the owner's fault.
