This transmission is slipping, hesitating in traffic if I need to move quickly so could become very dangerous. This car has very low miles and this should sure as hell not be an issue with only 50,000-60,000 miles. It began slowly and has progressively gotten worse. I don't have an extra $3,000.00 sitting around to replace a transmission that should not be having problems! Had to give up a motorbike and sell it in order to prepare to have this transmission replaced. I have always heard how reliable and awesome Toyota's are... WELL, not convinced at this point!!! This was a painful setback!!!
Got a used 2012 Camry LE, 2.5L. Been driving for a year on mostly highway, some city driving, now at 150k miles. I've had no issues until recently where I've been slipping whenever I shift into drive (delayed engagement?). After a month, I noticed that I started slipping at 60-70mph.
I got a fluid change on the transmission, found the fluid to a bit dirty but not burnt. Added conditioner too. This did not help much, if at all. Now recently, I slipped at 40-50 mph. Not sure if this is a common issue, but I need to know if there is a definite reason/fix for this rather than getting a new transmission because the cost is a bit high for me right now.
I bought this 2012 Camry SE used 4 days prior- within 4 days and 40 miles of driving , the transmission slipped. I called the sales rep at Fremont Toyota to report it. It has 144,000 miles on it. Two weeks later they had me bring it in to their service shop for evaluation. They flushed the transmission fluid and verified the problem. I'm working with the used car sales manager to find a replacement car, at this dealership, in the same price range. What other options do I have?
Bought a Toyota because they are known for being the best for high mileage with low problems. Great car but at 165,000 it started shifting hard and found out is needs a new torque converter. I researched if I should fix this issue or just get a new car. Apparently, Toyota knows about the torque converter issues with the 2012 Camry and extended to 150,000 miles but mine was over that before it started shifting hard. Why wouldn't they fix a known problem?? Very disappointed.
I was very upset when I had my first issues starting around 102000 miles and it was noted that my car needed an update, so I got it done. Then it started slipping again around 105000 miles took it to the dealership and still noted it was an update needed and the prior company I took it to did not notate my car issues. Now at 124777 miles my car began to do the same issues and I was told I need a new transmission....very mad! I bought a Toyota because of its track record and now I paid more money for a car that did not last very long.

Toyota’s aren’t really known for these kinds of issues but I did enjoy the car before this started. Hopefully someone else can take this as a note of caution before buying this year (2012) of Camry.
My Camry is grinding on acceleration between 20mph and 50mph. From what I've read about the 2012, it's the transmission converter and will cost $3k+. I bought a Camry to avoid this kind of problem, looks like Toyota let me down on this one. Oh, and the power locks haven't worked for over 2 years.
