This Camry has acceleration issues mostly when you push the gas pedal in a hurry to pick up speed quickly. The engine revs loudly (making those around you on the road think you are trying to race them), but delays in picking up speed. This could be considered dangerous if you need to accelerate in a hurry and cannot.

I called Toyota's corporate number, reported the problem, and they denied knowledge of this issue with 2012 Camry cars. Toyota said this despite the fact that I have seen people reporting wrecks caused by acceleration problems and there was a settlement as well. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/toyota-reaches-12-billion-settlement-to-end-criminal-probe/2014/03/19/5738a3c4-af69-11e3-9627-c65021d6d572_story.html?utm_term=.79604572492e) This lawsuit was due to vehicles accelerating TOO fast, which is the opposite issue that I'm talking about. However, if they have had a lawsuit over unintended acceleration issues, then it stands to reason the lack of acceleration is indeed happening and also unsafe.

I took the car to my local Toyota service center and reported the issue there (bought this car used 6 months ago, great condition) and Toyota's service center said there was nothing wrong with it. It is too bad a trusted company like Toyota denied this problem and wont make it right for myself and others who have complained, very disappointed.

From a dead stop such as a driveway. Accelerating and turning hard to the right, the throttle will go completely dead as if the engine has been turned off for several seconds. Then, it comes to life and will burn the tires at full throttle and take off. Unfortunately, by this point in time I have almost gotten rear ended by oncoming traffic. This has happened a dozen times to me already. Its the combination between the bump when leaving a driveway and the sudden turn that makes the throttle shutoff. Almost as if the computer thinks its been in an accident or something and is killing the throttle on purpose. I've never seen a car do this before and I will tell you this much - Toyota doesn't give a crap about fixing it.

Similar issue as others with the 2012 Camry. Random times after driving the car, when I come to a stop or stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, when I accelerate, the car either hesitates before kicking in or it is very slow to get going. Almost like it starts out in 2nd or 3rd gear. Took it to the dealer and as usual, they say there is nothing wrong. Filed a complaint with Toyota Corp. They have suggested I take it to another dealer for a second opinion. Very disappointing! This confirms my decision not to purchase another Toyota again.

Camry LE 2L 4

Shortly after taking posession of a new Camry I noticed a lag in accelerating at low speed and when turning corners. The problem is sporadic. Often there is no problem. However, I believe this is a safety issue since I never know when it may occur. I have had numerous occasions when I expected the car to accelerate and it didn't. There have been a number of occasions where there could have been a collision because the car did not accelerate as I expected it to do. I have mentioned this to the dealership but am told it is a normal computer situation between the accelerator and the engine and it is not really a problem and nothing has been investigated or fixed. I think it is a problem as I would reasonably expect the car to accelerate , every time, when I push the gas pedal.
