I noticed the rattle several months ago so I waited to bring the car in when I need the first oil change. I asked the service representative to check the rattle on 8-3-2012 and he said I needed to make a separate appointment for the rattle.
I scheduled it for the following Friday 8-9-2013. I told the service representative at Star Toyota that the rattle was coming from the panel under the glove box. I stated that it was loose and that I had placed some felt strips between the surfaces where the panel meets the dash to eliminate the serious rattle. They said they would fix the problem.
I work at ACUTX (Associated Credit Unions of Texas) as a systems Analyst and my office is within walking distance of the dealership. I needed to get to work so I walked to ACUTX and waited for their call. They didn’t call and I needed the vehicle by 4:00 pm so I called them and they told me they couldn’t determine where the rattle was coming from and tried to blame it on anything and everything.
I told the service representative that I knew what it was and had told them to secure the loose panel under the glove box which they refused to do. I further explained that “I was driving with my fiancé on a road that was like a washboard and the rattle was very load. I had my fiancé reach under the glove box and hold the panel up and the rattle went awayâ€. I asked them why they didn’t do what I asked and the said they weren’t sure where the rattle was coming from so they could do what I asked which was to secure the panel.
I have owned many vehicles but this is my first new vehicle. It had 6 miles on it when I took delivery. I have been very satisfied with the vehicle except for the rattle. My last vehicle was 20 years old and it didn’t rattle. I have received better service from all other dealers. I would expect this situation to be resolved upon receiving this letter.
I guess I don’t understand why the panel wasn’t secured as I requested. I guess this dealer does whatever they want when they get your vehicle. The radio station had changed the seat back was adjusted so low that I couldn’t drive it until I had readjusted it to me. I can understand if someone would need to place the seat forward as I am 5’ 11†and like sitting far back but anyone can drive without messing with the seat back. The special items hanging from my mirror had been rearranged so that I had to take them out and untangle them. Perhaps they went hot-rodding in the car also.
