I bought my 2011 Camry le in 2014 pre certified and have used the dealership for maintenance and repairs.my car had 38000 miles when I bought. For a year I've been in out of dealership with an intermittent rattling notice only when ac was on. First diagnosis was back brakes and flex pipe .After fixing those issues still have same noise. I was told in March of 2021 I needed torque converter. Fixed that.
Did a tune up in March 30 2021. Still same rattling going on. Took back on may 42021 and now I have a bottom knock and it was going to start off costing 2400 to find this knock. Now I'm 😡 pissed I've been in out of dealership for about a year spending thousands to fix and had same complaint. I took to get a second opinion and I do have knock and it's still costly to repair.
They recommended to me to do engine replacement so this is where I'm at now. Outraged that the dealership couldn't find this issue when I first went in last August. I'm having replacement done and when all said and done, it'll be 4800 more dollars. I've been doing a lot of research and am finding out there's a lot of complaints of high oil consumption and engine defects in these engines. There is even class action lawsuits about this issue against Toyota and I'm trying to join that party to try and receive maybe some of my funds back. I'm even considering small claims.
I did unnecessary repairs along the way up to this point. I'm so disgusted with Toyota. Doesn't matter if you maintenance well when the engines actually have defects and I'm finding out more as I go along. If you want to get your money's worth, stay away from Toyota because there is a lot of hidden information on Toyotas - all different models, recalls and tsbs. Be smart and stay away from these rip offs or you'll be in same boat as myself.
