This paint and clear coat chips and scratches very easily. Multiple chips on bumper, hood marring the shine. Chips all over the car, especially the bumper, next the hood. Chipped, dotted, spotted, tiny to medium size, it's awful. The shine is reduced, as the surface is potted. The clear coat is also pathetic, I will come back to my car and see scratches in the clear coat and a bit of the film flying about in the wind. Perhaps scratched from sand or other flying dusting, dirt. My previous 1999 Toyota Camry also has paint problems, it faded horribly in the sun. Toyota is trying to save money on the paint, and experimenting with their customers. I have entered this twice, for the 2011, and the 1999 Toyota Camry. Toyota should be ashamed.

The clear coat started flaking off the bumper and under skirt. I tried to take the car back in just before the warranty ran out. I was told to come back when the shop manager was in. Of course they would not document that I had brought it in to get it covered under the warranty. I was not able to take it back since I lived a good distance away. In addition I had been told by another dealer that the bumpers and under skirt were after market parts. The dealer denied they put after market parts on the car even though there was a sticker on the driver window from a detail shop. Another Toyota dealer told me it was after market parts.

Toyota gives the customer, at a price, ingredients to conceal small scratches; however, the small spider-looking scratches are very prominent. It seems a company that prides itself on quality skimped on the paint it used.

This bubbling and rusting is all around window at the top of car. I keep my car very clean and make sure I was it once every two weeks. I have a 2003 Nissan that doesn't have one drop of rust. I am saddened by this as it is my first Toyota purchase.

I am really disappointed about the paint chipping and peeling on my 2011 Camry. I purchased the car April 2012 and have complained about paitn chipping since 2 weeks of having the car. I am repeatedly being told it is rock hitting my car. That is BS. I have driven these same roads for 25 years and have owned many vehicles. I have never seen anything like this. I want it fixed and fixed properly. If I have to pay to repaint my car it will NOT be done by Toyota and I will not allow anyone to use Toyota paint on my car. I will not buy another Toyota (and this is not my first...although I had no problems with others).

Camry SE 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,000 miles

A few months after purchasing our first brand new car, 2011 Camry SE 2.5 Automatic, Ribbon Blue beautiful paint, my wife noticed marks on the paint, definitely noticed clear coat damage. It occurred from daily driving. Obviously my wife was very concerned, she drove to the dealer and demanded them to take a look. The investigated, apologized for using low quality product. Their solution is "We recommend a great guy that details our vehicle he can get this car looking like new." Since, it is detailing, we have to pay out of pocket.

Months down the road, multiple rips, scratches from snow. Now, my wife drives this car, and she is very, very careful, severe OCD about keeping it clean, parking away from potential accidents, etc.. Once again at the dealer, and once again "Our apologies for poor quality paint product, you can leave your complaints at toyota, we can not fix this problem until the big people at the head of Toyota will address this."

Once, again the detailing illusionist was able to hide the scratches and paint chips. But only if you are not looking closely. With every month the paint gets worse, I'm adressing the issue, however, I'm afraid the car does need a new paint job.

Sorry to say, but if this issue doe not get resolved by Toyota, they will loose us, as loyal custumers.

by the way this is not the only issue with the car, but most pain in the a....

As reported by others, the paint on the car seems to be very soft, and chips very easily (especially across the front from small road debris/bugs; and, I never leave bugs on it for long). It has more & larger chips on it than our '98 Camry (with 200K+ miles) which has been driven in the exact same environment (but more than ten times as long!). Suggest everyone experiencing a similar problem document it here (it only takes a couple minutes to set up acct) in order to get our voices heard... squeaky wheel earns the grease.

Hood of my car looks like three big circles have been drawn and painted around the circles. Took to dealer and was told nothing could be done. Now I see another circular area on top in front of my sunroof. This is a very poor paint job and quality of paint. There are also way too many chips out of the front and sides- toyota should pay for new paint job. Years ago I had a new Chevrolet camaro and the paint started flaking off - Chevrolet repainted entire vehicle!! Guess I should have stayed with Chevy..

Camry 2.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • 9,800 miles

Camry only had 9800 miles on it and had the 10000 mile schedule maintaince and guess what the alignment was off again and and my car paints is getting worst, chips all over the front end and yes more scratches and I took the car over to the body shop and the David Macus employee once again tell me that the paint is fine. so I said I guess I am going to have to have my car repaint myself then and he stated "yes" and it would run me $3500.00. The car came from the Kentucky plant and right from the factory the car has orange peel. I do have more complaint ranging from the alighment 5 times already. The paint job is garbage. Transmission is grinding and I have to fight to put it in 1st gear. Power locks are starting to give me problems now and today at work I was rotating my tire like I do every 1000 mile and my tec noticed the CV axile boot is now ripe slinging that grease all over my car and the thing is my car only has 26000 miles on it and 2 years old and I already have these issues. this was my first brand new car buying experience and my first toyota. Guess what Thanks toyota I will never purchase another one of your piece of garbage again and I will never send anyone to David Macus Toyota his motto is "WHAT EVER IT TAKES" ya to take your money and run.

Camry Hybrid Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,000 miles

Just purchased this new Camry from Stonecrest Toyota, Lithonia, Ga. in January of this year. I am a real neat freak so I wash my car on a weekly basis. 2nd week of washing I saw my first chip....so my thought was, okay I have my first ding I'm over that paranoia of messing up my new car. Well every week after there is at least 1-3 chips on my car. I have drove toyota and Lexus for years and none of my cars had the number of chips that this new car now has and all my previous cars had over 200,000 miles on them at trade-in. I have taken my car to the dealership to ask can my car be repainted since it's only a few months old and looks horrible......they reply that the warranty only covers rust or damage coming from beneath the paint.....not from the top and that sandstone and bugs will do this to my car......they say it's perfectly normal and to be expected. To fix this problem they want me to split the cost of another paint job. I have signed a 7 year loan on this car and I have only had it 4 months and it looks like crap and if I don't pay more money to them my car will look like it's been run through a junkyard before I ever finish paying for it. Does anyone know how to make these people pay? At this point, I will never buy another Toyota and I will tell everyone I know what crappy cars they are making now. When I used to go to Toyota, they were so helpful, now they act like they just aren't concerned, even the technicians look like they know it's a problem but they can't do anything about it! I guess I will have to take them to Arbitration.

Paint chips too easily on my 2011 camry xle 4cyl. Toyota should be ashamed not to make the paint more durable on hood, front fenders, behind back doors, and on leading edge of wheel wells behind front wheels where rocks often impact.

I have pictures if needed. Small chips have occured all over the vehicle. Some "chips" have become peeling areas. Quite large on the grill. Where the body is metal the paint doesn't bubble just chips quit easily. I tapped the rook with my ring while talking, not hard, and the paint chipped.

All I have done so far is ask my sales person about and haven't heard back yet.

Camry LE 4 cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 1,000 miles

This paint is horrible, I have chips in the door jams from shoe heels, many rock chips on the front and side, rust in the first 3 months of ownership. Other than that the paint is free of dents and scrapes. I realize paint chips do occur, but I have more chips on this car in the first 10,000 miles of driving than 500,000 miles of driving of all my previous cars. This paint is amazingly weak.
