CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good†but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.
Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal†for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.
Toyotas had a reputation as a great & reliable car. I sold Toyotas for 4 years. There would have been no doubt this would have been fixed for free, or at least fixed at a greatly reduced price.
The next problem is the sorry ass paint !! 3 or 4 years ago it just started oxidizing. It started on the roof and has now started on the hood and trunk. The dealer said its acid rain, can you say BULLSHIT! None of our neighbors have had any problems, and some of them have Toyotas.
I've owned Toyotas since 1979 and never had major repairs until my 2009 Camry. Front right side wheel bearing went first and a year later back right wheel bearing went out. I can understand maybe one wheel bearing but two?
I'm soo sick of this car.. I'm about to go stand in front of the dealership and protest ... I've had problems since a yr after purchase. It's 3 yrs old and so far I've changed the brakes 3 times , rotors twice , the paint is pealing, the visor had to be replaced, NOW the bearings are going out and I'm finding a ride to work !!! NO ONE from Toyota will call me back . I'm on my 3rd Toyota I really do like them but I DO believe I have a LEMON !! Why wont they help me !! Someone please help... I've been late on notes so i could fix the problems....so now i've messed up my credit... If i could i would get a new car ... Maybe not a Toyota next time.........
I had the first front driver side wheel bearing on my 2009 Toyota Camry repaired in April of last year. I am now having to replace the second wheel bearing on the front passenger side.
Upon purchasing the car from McDonough Toyota in 2010 I told them I heard a humming sound in my car and the mechanic that went with me to test drive the car told me it was just the tires. They replaced tires before I purchased the car and I found later that information was not documented in their system, when I called to talk to them about the first wheel bearing. They would not even give me a discount on the repairs. I called the Toyota Headquarters to report the issue today and was informed no one has reported this to them. Their contact # (800) 331-4331 #4 to report issues.
