Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal†for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.

So, I brought a 2009 Toyota Camry 11/2015 and a week later there was a squealing/whistling noise. They said it was the rotors so they replaced them and it still continued to make the same noise. Its not the brakes or rotors. They checked the tires and the dealership sprayed some anti-traction spray to see if that would take care of it. NOT! They indicated that it was the wheel bearings and it would cost $626. It wasn't until I told them that I had brought it in before and that I wasn't paying for something that they didn't fix in the beginning. They were hell bent on that being the problem until I told them they needed to fix it and then they came back with some BS that it wasn't the wheel bearings. The noise has gotten worse and worse and I'm just annoyed. Here it is July 2016 and the noise has gotten worse and worse. I recorded the noise, but I must be crazy because my husband says he doesn't hear it at all and he drove it all day. The noise is there and I know everyone riding along side me can hear it too. The noise goes away when you apply brakes but comes right back. It doesn't matter what speed you are going, doesn't matter if AC is on/off. I love Toyota, but why is it that no one can figure out what the noise is coming from. I had a auto shop check it out and will be visiting a Toyota dealer soon to see if they can figure out the issue.
The noise just gets louder and louder as you drive. I have to literally be over 60 mph for it not to make the noise. Does anyone know if the wheel bearings would cause this noise to happen before I go get them replaced. I don't even drive the car that much because of being embarrassed at how loud it sounds. I drive my old 2003 Camry even though I had to replace the wheel bearings on that when I first got it.
