CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good†but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.
Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal†for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.

I bought a 2009 Toyota Camry used in 2013 at a local Toyota dealership. In about two years time, the driver's front coil spring broke. I took it back to the dealership (I had an extended warranty from the dealership as well) but nothing was covered. They ended up replacing the coil spring & strut.
Just a couple days ago I heard a similar rattling from the passenger side front & sure enough, I can see just by looking up under the wheel well, the coil spring on that side also broke the same as the other.
After reading many complaints on this forum, I realize that the struts on Camry's for this year do wear out prematurely. Thus leading to, in my estimation, the added stress & subsequent breakage of the accompanying coil spring. I wholeheartedly agree with others posts that these are safety concerns Toyota should be required to be at least partly responsible for these repair costs. Especially when safety is the issue at hand!
