CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good†but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.
Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal†for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.

Well this is the next big issue- because i don't know who's telling me the truth- i am not a mechanic- but a 2009 car should not have trouble starting, and the battery should not be drained and then die, and the lights should be bright and functional to drive with appropriate vision distance without high beams on. well this car is all the opposite. When battery initially died on a cold rainy Saturday nov. 19, 2011 at a park and i was all by myself, the car that morning had been initially not starting correctly- and thus i gut feeling thought it was the alternator. And of course was pissed because i have been passed done yet another problem and told look what we do for you- it sucks. so car battery died- had to go to the walmart that night to get or check the battery- they tested it i told him that the lights were horrible he tested the battery which does resemble the one it should be and the one that is in the manual, and it tested 532/580 which was good. Then he tested the the alternator- and his test should that it was bad. So off i went to the dealership on Monday to have the car checked out and had them to the 15000 mile inspection, i explained the issues that the Walmart man had told me- gave the toyota dealership service man the testing papers from the walmart that stated that either the alternator was bad or the starter, and the guy disregarded them- he said they have their own tests and that they would inspect it and fix what ever the issue was ( still a huge inconvenience to me because thus i have to make arrangements to get a vehicle, wait till they have everything tested out and then if there are issues deal with it)- they did their little testing, and they found that the battery was completely dead, if this is the case- how did the car start in order for me to get there. The car was not turning over, this should not happen, and what about the battery test that the Walmart guy did i read it - i watched him do it, and it registered 532/580- which is good- so this is still where the issues lies - car car lights are horrible, car does initially start but not always and it should - ITS NOT OLD. Which leads me to believe that this alternator is on its way out , and i have only one month left on the warranty, and i think i am going to get screwed, because toyota says there is nothing wrong - how do i get recourse, one guys telling me that its (alternator / starter) is bad with a paper test proving that, and Toyota guy is telling me that it is ok and i have no proof that he even checked it- i could have just paid them for 15000 mile inspection of 90.00 - i don't even really know if they changed the oil to synthetic as i requested, checked the air filter as resquested, all i can go on is this guys word - and i dont know him from Adam- and the car lights still dont work and its not turning over like it should and the manual doesn't match the vehicle on accessories or interiors and also there is nothing stated in the manual about what you should do for a faulty starter or alternator- this is a new car- i should even have to deal with any of this- i drive a volkswagen for 9 years it died at 182,000 miles and didnt have these issues. except for the suspension which was totally screwed up but fixed and replaced at least 10 times over- that's why i know that when this new car is driving rough, and that the suspension feels faulty - i know i have had past and prior experience in dealing with that crap. So point blank- this quote unquote new car has many issues that are going to be costly- 1- faulty alignment- worn out tires at 14490 miles- thats bullcrap, 2-dead battery at 14997?? questionable but replaced at no charge 3-Alternator/Starter- the upcoming screw that will probable die right as the warranty expires (and then i will get yelled at-what you need more money- you think i am money bags- i was just handed huge problems and i know it)4- Lights- are horrible and you cant see the road at night unless you drive with high beams on and piss everyone else off and blind them- that is wrong. 5- well i have gotten to the point of knowing yet what the exhaust system is like haven't used it yet 6- Suspension, bent rims on tires what this is a new car. So what would you do-
