CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good” but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.

Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal” for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.

My trunk is leaking on the right side during heavy downpours. I went to get our fabric shopping bags from the trunk and they were soaked. The car is smelling musty, not great for my sinuses and asthma. Headlight seal is allowing moisture to enter or the plastic has become porous. During a recent inspection, the headlights did not pass. We paid the gas station $32 to clean and polish the headlights to pass inspection. They looked great afterwards and passed inspection. Then my husband took the car to the car wash. Now the headlight casing is clouded again. I can see the soap drippings from the carwash on the inside of the plastic. The car is parked on the street or in a driveway, since we don't have a garage. The vehicle was stationary.

I have a 2009 Toyota Camry, after having it for three years the sun visors fell apart they started tearing apart literally.. then they fell off on there own. I told the Toyota dealership and was told the warranty or recall had just expired I don't remember which.. also the headliner on my vehicle started dropping just as fast as my visors, this is my first vehicle and I am very disappointed on how it's coming apart.

I cant give a definitve date when I noticed but I did notice it seemed to appear as if I had put a coat of conditioner on it, I assumed it was just a matter of the heat causing excess conditioner to leach out. I attempted to wipe it off and realized it was sticky and it was near the warranty expiration time. One cold moring I got in the car and realized no normal dashboard should look like that and pressed it with my fingernail and realized it was soft. I take my car in on fairly regular basis to a Toyota dealer. Which is why I believe the service technicians saw the pattern of change and choose not to document it or say anything as it may involve a problem that would not involve profit for Toyota or the dealership. My last trip was for a defect on the visor and I mentioned it to the service agent who choose not to make any comment which I noted as odd ( a typical action when management has instruced employees not to comment on a known problem). A month or so later I received a notice in the mail that they woul take care of the problem with a complimentary fix to the problem. The letter I received appears to be a stalling tactic to get customers to wait, not fix the problem and or seek reimbursement utill it's too late for redress. On my last visit I insisted they make note of the problem due to dangerous glare being reflected off the dashboard onto the windshield. I stated it was a grave safety issue. The letter stated they needed to acquire enouh parts to fix the cars and do no contact the dealer to wait for a notice to bring your car in. If I had an accident it would not take over six months to acquire the parts if I or the insurance company was paying for it. Believe me if CEO's of Toyota or there loved ones were driving with this problem they would immediately fix the problem, they probably have and kept it off the record.

On my way to work and another driver just rammed his struck against my car his tired ended up on top of my car it was a hard hit and I even thought I had my seat belt I my airbags did it go off at all the impact was so hard and I would like to know why didn't my airbags deployed my question is do I have any airbags that really concerned me and would like Toyota to look at my car as soon as possible in my opinion my airbags should have went off I was hit by a bigger veichle and I would like Toyota to take reposability since I had witness that saw the accident and testified that I was not at fault if there is no airbags in my car it's new to me because when I went to buy the car the only thing high was the mage and I was promise that if anything went wrong with the car Toyota will be responsible for it. I think that Toyota took advantage and was trying to get rid of the car so I got the wrong end of the deal. If I find out I never had any air bag si should no be reponsie le to pay a die out of my pocket.

The car was purchased new in 2008. I lived in ga from 2008-2012 and moved to tx in 2012. I did not experience dash issues while living in ga. I first noticed my dashboard was "sticky" when trying to remove a parking voucher from the dash area. The voucher was stuck to the dash and other areas of the dash were sticky to the touch. I tried removing pieces of the voucher and noticed the "stickiness" of the dashboard was coming off onto my hands. The stickiness has worsened to the point that whenever the dash is touched the sticky residue is transferred onto hands and fingerprints are left behind. The dashboard seems to be melting and touching the surface creates "gouges" in the dash. The area where the voucher was placed and removed is worn and has lost its texture. The increased stickiness makes the dash shiny and a glare is present when driving. The sticky/melting dash is a result of dash material defects which should be replaced by Toyota free of charge.

From the start of this year I have realized that my dashboard seems to be melting. Its sticky and shiny and the shininess becomes distracting. I cant wipe it much because particles will stick to it. Toyota is stating I must pay for a new dashboard but I feel that isn't fair due to a defect with the car dashboard. I live in the us virgin islands and temperatures are always hot. I have owned a few cars and been in all my family members cars and have never experienced a melting dashboard.

Sticky dashboard provides glare. This causes distraction and glare. Because of stickiness, I can't mount my gps and that forces me to keep looking down and not pay attention to road. I had many close calls and Toyota would not fix this issue. I never have this problem in my 2004 Camry. It seems this is a manufacturing issue.

Beginning in summer 2014, the 2009 Toyota Camry le dashboard has gradually become very shiny. The shininess now produces a glare on the windshield and makes it difficult to see through the windshield at times. In addition, the shiny area of the dashboard has become increasingly sticky with a tacky feel to it. No commercial products have been used to clean the windshield, and car is under cover the majority of the time.

Glare due to melted dashboard cause delay reaction due to poor visibility resulting in double impact. The dashboard issue looks to be a cosmetic issue but it really should be a recall as it is clearly a poor manufacturing product that when in contact with the sun turns into a shinny sticky residue that reflects the direct light right into de driver and passenger's face. Toyota should stand by their product and replace the poorly designed dashboards before a fatality occurs.

Bumper to bumper traffic during rush hour; Dodge truck w/trailer hitch stopped on a dime; I ran into back of truck; but then my car lunged forward on its own Accord and I hit the truck a second time. I had my foot on the brake and it lunged! car is in the shop but I still have not found out what the cost of damage will be or the time frame for repairs. It has lunged before; but I have not been in an accident before this because of the sudden acceleration.
