CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good†but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.
Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal†for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.

I purchased my 2009 Camry in July 2008. After the first tire rotation I noticed a metal cracking popping noise. I took it to the dealership to have them check it. I was told I was imagining the noise. So, of course I got upset. I let it go. The next time I take it to have the oil changed and tires rotated I mentioned the noise again. At first I was told it was my sunroof. They were going to rebuild my sunroof. Then the mechanic came back out and said "I don't think that is what is wrong". I was told that I had to recreate the noise. I did recreate the noise and they could never find the problem.
Time went on the winter months sets in and the noise gets worse. I say something again about the noise and they again tell me that there is nothing wrong with my car. It is normal for a car to make these noises. They blamed things on me being used to driving an SUV and I need to retrain myself on how to drive a car.
I have made a complaint with the manufacturer they sent someone out to check it. The man literally spent 3 minutes in my car. Not enough time to hear a thing. He then said it was normal. Cars make noises. On my complaining I said it sounded like metal bending. So, later on if there is metal fatigue and there is a problem and I wreck because of it someone will be responsible.
