CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good†but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.
Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal†for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.
When I speed at 60mph a burning smell comes from the AC windows into the car as if a metallic object is burning. But below 60mph I don't experience any smell.
My mechanic has checked the AC motor, he did not see anything wrong. Nothing appears on the panel to indicate that there is a problem.
Brought it to Toyota service, they are telling me there is a mold and bacteria build up in the AC and it has something to do with the way the cars AC is made since 2007. They can do a "clean out" on it but the problem will return every 6 months to 1 year and it is not covered under warnty. There is nothing I can do to stop the problem but if I only run tht "Fresh Air" it will help reduce the smell....It is 98 degrees here with 100% humidity...
