The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the brake pedal was applied as the engine warning indicator illuminated. A driver in another vehicle alerted that both brake lights were inoperative. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the stop lamp switch would need to be replaced. The vehicle was also taken to the dealer where both brake light bulbs were replaced. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 12V091000 (exterior lighting). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
