CarComplaints.com Notes: Owners are reporting that their engines are running out of oil awfully quick. As in, 1 quart every 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains that’s with the “normal†operating range of the 2AZ-FE while owners maintain that’s complete BS.
The issue may be the result of defective piston rings.

I had barely had this car a year I live in Alabama. I had a warranty limited and looked like everything that happen they would say it was not covered. I was told the thermostat was sticking, had it replaced, only lasted for about 3 months so. I just took it out myself that lasted for about 6 months before I had to put it in the shop again. This time I went to firestone and they claim they put water pump, radiator and thermostat in the car, it did fix the problem. Only the engine light would come on and I would constantly have to add coolant and oil.
