CarComplaints.com Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.
Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings.
Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal†amount of oil.
Our company has many Aurion and Camry cars. Those cars which have 40,000km and above mileage I found most have the steering problems i.e clicking sound or something is loose when the steering is turned. I called Toyota Australia and told them the problem and told them since so many of the cars have problems, they should recall the cars. I have extended warranty with 5 star but they said steering is not covered under extended warranty. I brought in the car to repair only at 60k service because I thought it is under extended warranty. If I brought in the car few months earlier, it would be under Toyota warranty. Be very careful about extended warranty. They only cover those that are less likely to have problems it seems. I would not consider any Toyota cars in future until they resolve the problems. Steering is one of the costly item to repair.
This is third Camry we have had and so far this one has had a few issues, I think they that Toyota had gotten cocky and the company neglected the quality of their cars.
I was sooooo pissed off about the problem with my 2007 Camry, I took it in to the Advantage Toyota dealer where I bought and serviced the car and described the problem, I was told the car needed tires and alignment, (at this time the car was still under manufacturer's warranty33000+ miles) I knew that was not right so I decided to have a tire shop do the work but the problem persisted and got a bit worse so I took it back to Advantage Toyota but this time my warranty had just expired it over 3 years old with 37000+ miles, this time they told me it was the steering link and it would cost $600+, I did get them to do it because I knew this was a dealer part and i would have to get it from them or another dealer anyway, but i'd just like to mention that the Toyota cars used to be very good but the later models sure SUCK, I do have a RAV4 also right now but I am looking to finish paying them off and trade both of them! NO more Toyota for me! as for Advantage Toyota, I believe all dealerships servicing rip you off but they take it to another level!!! no more servicing or purchasing anything from them for me EVER!!!!!
