CarComplaints.com Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.
Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings.
Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal†amount of oil.
every since day i july 2007 i told dealer i did not like the way the clutch engaged. very difficult, thye said it was normal. now clutch does not work, very mad at toyota
trouble with manual clutch since the first week after purchase; took the car in for maintenance and reported the problem each time with the assurance "there is nothing wrong" car continued to stall out when changing gears. Most notable at first gear; I have been driving a stardar for 25 years, different types of cars and being told, " you have to get used to it" did not convince me. This week while driving home in rush hour traffic I could not engage any gears; I will be taking the car in for repair but it has less than 70,000 miles and not able to drive it. I have a Honda Accord with 270,000 miles that is getting me around and I have never had a problem with it other than routine maintenance. Bought the Camry because of the stated value for the same ratings as Honda. WRONG.
