CarComplaints.com Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.

Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings.

Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal” amount of oil.

Car purchased new on 5/9/2007. Only 30,800 miles & had the oil changed. The car was squealing. Mech. Determined the left rear inside brake pad was almost gone!! front pads/rotors fine. This is a case of premature rear brake pad wear that Toyota is aware of. They issued a tsb. There should be a recall & all work done should be completely free of charge!! now I have to pay $250 to have the entire rear brake system fixed=2 rotors turned, 4 disc brake pads, & labor. Toyota is completely at fault.

While trying to make a turn to take an exit to ramp, I applied brakes to slow down and take the curve but the vehicle accelerated and while controlling it I pressed on emergency brakes and brought car to sudden stop but also hit the curve on the side of the hwy. This is an ongoing issue with Toyota and had happened twice before.
