CarComplaints.com Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.
Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings.
Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal†amount of oil.

3 or 4 years ago my dash board started melting. It is sticky and has a shine to it that causes a glare when driving into the sun. I have asked Toyota about it and they say there is nothing they will do.
I have a 2007 Toyota Camry that has the melting dashboard. I complained about it many times starting in September of 2012. They told me it was my fault. Something I used on dashboard. (cleaning product). I knew I had not and insisted mid last year that they take pictures and submit to have it fixed. I did not get a response. Last month August, 2014 8 on your side aired the story on melting dashboards. I called Toyota again and they said they were sorry no one got back to me. They said they had the complaint on file, but could not explain why I got no response. A few days later they said they would fix it for just under $800. I feel this is a manufacturer problem and think it should be a recall. The glare it causes off the windshield makes if dangerous to drive. Also melting plastic may not be good for the air quality. Thank you I was in contact with clearwater Toyota. They said I had 90 days to accept or deny their offer.
My dashboard is melting, and its only getting worse, cant clean it off, but aside from that I fear that in an emergency my passenger airbag will not properly deploy...this is a horrible yet scary issue to have...such a beautiful car with a melting dashboard, I am a big Honda and Toyota fan as for the rest off my family..and I can tell you this cannot be Toyota quality of service, and I highly doubt that the cheap melting gum like materials used for these dashboards are not up to Toyota standards..

Toyota should provide a recall regarding the replacement of a defective and potentially dangerous vehicle dashboard. My car is in excellent condition but for some reason the vehicle has a sticky, melting and dirty dashboard which is impossible to clean because if you touch it vanishes, while cleaning it. Furthermore, when you drive on daylight is extremely difficult to drive with the glare coming from the dashboard, which definitely may cause a horrible accident, increasing the possibility for injury and even death along time.
2007 Toyota Camry. Consumer writes in regards to assistance in replacement of defective and potentially dangerous vehicle dashboard. The consumer stated not only was the dashboard melting, sticky, and ugly, the glare coming from the dashboard made it difficult to see the road ahead and therefore greatly increased the potential for injury.
I have not had any accidents because of the melting dashboard and hope I don't. it is an issue that should be dealt with. It seems that Toyota will not do anything about unless they are made to so. My dashboard has gotten soft and continues to get soft even though I keep it garaged. There are glares and gouges now. Those are distracting and can easily result in me or someone else having a crash because of it. There are numerous complaints online regarding this issue.I have spoken to corporate and the local dealer and have come away frustrated. All they want to do is assist in the replacement of the dash, and I would have to pay$1100 myself. It not right for the consumer to pay such a price when the car maker has clearly made a defective product.
In my 2007 Toyota Camry, at first (approx. 2011) the dashboard would feel sticky, as if something had spilled on it. However the stickiness could not be cleaned up. It was in fact the material of the dashboard melting. It continues to get worse and spreads across a larger area, to the point that now (2014) the dash cannot be touched without a mark being left in the melted material. It looks wet and is so glossy that the glare is impossible to see through most of the day. This is clearly a manufacturers defect and should be recalled as it is a safety hazard, not just with the blinding glare which impairs vision, but because the passenger airbag is contained inside of the dashboard and the dashboard being melted may affect its deployment.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dashboard was sticky and began to melt. The failure caused a glare on the windshield and impaired the contact's vision. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
The upper part of the dashboard (toward the windshield) has become soft and sticky. It is essentially melting. I have tried to clean it but that only makes it worse. It is now just a sticky goo.
I've noticed my 2007 Camry dashboard is melting under the hot Florida sun. In the mornings is not as sticky but when heat starts going up the dashboard get stickier and shiny making a glare on windshield making it difficult to see. This is a problem I cannot have it is a safety issue and it needs to be addressed. Please someone help!
As I was driving East on a 4 lane highway the sun was hitting my dashboard and because of the melting condition of the dashboard there was a glare in front of me that impaired my vision. It forced me to make a left hand turn to get way from the glare. This dash board becomes so sticky in the heat that I cant display parking passes in the window because I won't be able to remove them. Because of this I run the risk of being ticketed. A dashboard should not be in this condition. It is made of faulty material.
A few inches of the front dashboard area nearest the front window melted and would get on the sunscreen and from there on to the front window. I spoke to the service person at my dealership and on the advice of his manager I sent an email to Toyota. They only offered to pay for half of the replacement cost. I had the dashboard replaced and had to pay $688.70.
Dash board is melting, sticky, needs replacement and creating a glare, which, in turn, causes a reflection that effects the driver from the glare. This has become a safety issue.
Dashboard is melting and is very sticky. Glare from the shiny causes distraction on the road. Hard to see the road because of the shine. Dashboard is melting and is very sticky.
