CarComplaints.com Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.
Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings.
Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal†amount of oil.

During July, 2013, I noticed that the dashboard on my Camry was sticky and looked grimy. I asked my husband if he could clean it for me. When we had the car serviced in August, 2013, we were given the telephone number for Toyota to report my problem. It was not until a road trip this past summer, that we noticed how extremely difficult it was to drive at night the distraction from oncoming headlights hitting our glossy dashboard. Was distracting and extremely dangerous. The glare of the dashboard on the front window from the sun during the day was as terrible. We could not see exit signs or traffic warning lights because of the constant glare and blinding reflection. After I saw a news investigation on nbc6 miami concerning my same problem, I realized that this situation is a growing concern for Toyota owners and should be by Toyota. My family has had Toyota since my mother's cressida in 1984. We have lived in miami since then and have always purchased Toyota; tercel, corolla-sr-5, 3 Celica, 3 corollas, etc. My 2007 Camry has a manufacturer's defect Toyota corporation has been using inferior materials it should always be liable for something that can cause serious consequences and injury we never had any such problem. I would like to become part of any class action concerning this situation.
The dashboard has melted when the car was 4 years old. There is a blinding glare from the sunlight reflecting off the dash into the driver's eyes. Toyota refuses to acknowledge the manufacture of a defective product and will not cure the defect, claiming it is a warranty issue.
My 2007 Toyota Camry's dashboard is melting, with an extremely shiny glare and is very sticky leaving it impossible to clean. It becomes a dangerous blinding hazard when the sun is baring down on the dash.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dashboard melted due to excessive exposure to the sun. The defect was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000. The VIN was unavailable.
My dash is melting and disintegrating. It is really sticky causing a dangerous glare while driving. I have researched this problem and apparently I am not the only one with this issue. I have contacted the Toyota dealership but they wanted me to purchase a new dash. This can be a dangerous situation while driving with sun shining causing a glare and making it difficult to see the road.
The dashboard of my car is sticky and very shiny! I have found nothing that will remove the sticky stuff or the shine. The shine causes a blind spot for the driver that is very dangerous. It is on the driver's side and in the driver's line of sight. I feel that this is a problem of engineering by the company that makes the dash. They should be responsible for replacing this dashboard. It is all over the top of the dash.
Toyota Camry dashboard is very sticky and melting. If you press your hand or fingers against the dash board the rubber/paint will stick to your hand. Even if you try cleaning it, it will stick to the piece of cloth or paper and removing the paint and rubber from the dashboard.
Dash board is very sticky, becoming shiny, composition is changing to very soft, easily depressed and indented, and progressively getting worse. Shiny dashboard causes glare to reflect on windshield affecting visibility while driving on sunny days.
My dashboard is so sticky that I cant drive my car in the day time with out feeling safe. My dash board has turn into a glue trap for anything that comes in contact with it. I have called Toyota and made a claim and they told me not one person has made a complaint. I find that very hard to believe with all the post and videos on internet of this problem all over the country. Will please someone help, my car is not safe as you cant see in day time out of window.
The dashboard on my car is melting, the vehicle has been garage kept since 2011. The dashboard is extremely shiny and sticky and causes a serious glare problem while driving in daylight. I am afraid to operate the vehicle during daylight hours, due to the serious possibility of causing an accident because of the near zero visibility caused by the glare off the dashboard.
