CarComplaints.com Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.

Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings.

Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal” amount of oil.

The paint right above the front doors and on the back, trunk + spoiler looks very ugly and awful. I never expected for the paint to start peeling off at this age. First excessive oil consumption problem and now peeling paint. Sucks. Damn it. I'll never buy any Toyota again.

The paint job started peeling 6 months after I purchased the car. I had it touched up several times. I should have complained and asked for it to be repainted.

I park my car in a garage 5 days of the week. I saw my paint cracking over the years, but in the past few months, it seemed to have burst into a peel. There are many vehicles on Guam with this same problem. It is obviously a factory defect. An estimator of the Paint/Body Shop at the dealership owns a 2008 Toyota Camry that has advanced condition of this paint problem. In his professional opinion, the formula in the paint used is the cause for the problem. It can be isolated in certain makes, models, paint color and production years in Toyotas.

Paint on front is flaking off. I have never had this car in a carwash that uses brushes.

My car is only two years old and I am noticing several spots where the paint is chipping away. I do not wax my vehicle as I know this can contribute to rusting and chipping of paint so I am left wondering is this another manufacture's defect that Toyota will not own up to. I am strongly considering trading the car in or getting rid of it all together if I cannot get this problems resolved.

the car had scratches on the hood that the salesperson knew about. a 2007 Camry which i paid cash for. the car was detailed with trim that i didn't ask for yet was given to me in the original deal to butter me up. i didn't realize the defect until i washed my car. the original buyer didn't want the car due to this defect so they moved the car around until they pawned it off to an unsuspecting buyer such as me. i thought because i was buying a new car they wouldn't try to cheat me. they also said there was only two or three of these cars on the road in the country. the whole experience smacked with deceit. bait and switch and just plain lies.

Paint is curling and peeling from the front bumper of my 2007 Toyota Camry after only 10k miles When I brought it into the dealership they said it was caused by a gravel chip... OK maybe a piece of gravel chipped the paint... but I don't expect a small gravel chip to destroy the integrity of the paint an inch away. The black plastic is now 1" 1/2 diameter and they wouldn't wash the car for fear of more paint falling of. So rule #1 is don't drive the Toyota Camry because it might get a gravel chip. Rule #2 is don't wash the car because it may take the paint off. Consumer reports misled me on the quality of the Toyota Camry
