CarComplaints.com Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.

Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings.

Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal” amount of oil.

I bought the car and the next day I realized the CD player has a CD that is stuck and won't eject.

Camry XLE 2.4L

  • CVT transmission

6 CD changer refuses to load or eject. Two CD's still in unit. Not worth fixing, just listening to satellite radio and MP3. My 1996 Saturn changer was still working after 186000 miles. I should have dumped the Camry and kept the saturn. Much more reliable.

I have been without a radio/cd player for quite some time now. I had it checked on April 6, 2012 and was told it was an internal issue within the radio. I waited until February 18, 2013 to purchase the radio cd player because I couldn't afford it until then (it cost me $355.88). I have been to the dealership off and on on 3 separate occasions to have the radio fixed. I was told something different each time as to why the radio couldn't be fixed. The first time I went on February 26, 2013 I was told I was sent a defective radio, so they sent that one back and ordered another one. I kept waiting on the dealership to call me to let me know the radio was in, but no one ever called so I called them. The radio was actually in and from the way the conversation went it had been there and no one bothered to call me. Plans were made to come back to the dealership to have it put it. I went back to the dealership on March 29, 2013 and waited to only be told they thought it was in the computer in my car and they had to wait to talk to someone at Toyota before they could touch that part of my car. Mind you, I was informed Toyota was closed that day ( I guess because it was Good Friday). So, again I left with my vehicle with the radio not being fixed. I went back for the third time (April 3, 2013) and dropped my car off. The dealership supplied with me with a company car so I could go to work. I had already missed a whole day from work and was at the dealership on my day off the second time which was a holiday (Good Friday). The third time I actually had to called the dealership because by 3:00 p.m. no one had called me to let me know what was going on with my car. As you might have already guessed this time I was told they believe it's the amplifier. It was suppose to be in Friday, April 5, 2013, but I don't know because no one ever called. It has gotten to the point where my boss is looking at me like you have to be kidding when I tell him about my car, the radio and the dealership. I must admit it sounds crazy to me too. I just want my radio fixed. I believe a 2007 car radio shouldn't have just went out like mine did.

Update from May 15, 2013: My amplifier is in, but I can't afford to pay the labor costs, etc. to have it put in. At this point, I would just do without a radio/cd player because of all the running I have had to do. I am not convinced the amplifier is the solution to my problem. It seems to me the dealership is not sure what the problem is either because why else would I have had to go back and forth 3 times already dealing with the same problem. I wish I could just get my money back from the cost of the radio/cd player.
