This vehicle has had at least 2 brake repairs per year since the initial repair done prior to 20000 miles.rotors have been replaced twice, and this is the most brake repairs I have ever had on any vehicle I have owned. The last mechanic who worked on the car recommended replacing the calipers because they seem to be a problem in these cars. I have complained to Toyota and they say they have not heard of any problems in this year vehicle. I find this hard to believe when mechanics are telling me otherwise. I have always been a Toyota enthusiast, but I am concerned about the apathetic response I have gotten from them.
Consumer stated brakes would make a grinding sound and pulsate after driving for awhile, vehicle has been to the dealership on several occasions concerning the hydraulic system, the dealer has replaced the front rotors, as well as front and rear brakes, due to them being worn.
Consumer was informed that the rear brake shoes needed to be cleaned and adjusted, both rear and front brakes were worn and needed to be replaced, consumer was then infomred by an independent mechanic that the front and rear brakes were still good.
We bought this vehicle as a Toyota certified user car. Since purchase we have replaced the entire brake system twice and and rotors/pads three times, due to grinding noises, pedal vibration and premature wear. In speaking the with service manager he indicates that there are no reported problems, but after visiting your site -- I'm convinced there is a real problem. Please help.
Brakes squeak/ pull to left and warp. Also, cd player doesn't work, had 4 cds replaced/ springs in side of sun roof are broken and make noises, and regulator replaced inside of windows. Dealership is aware of problems. Consumer states that brake rotors have been turned at 9000 and 27000 miles, each time rotors are turned the brake pads have been replaced, however problem still occurs. Windshiled has a film like covering which makes it very difficult to see out of. Goodyear tire P205/65R15, dot M6urredr228 wore out prematurely.
Brakes have experienced grinding noise on several occasions, the dealer has replaced the pads but the problem reoccured, finally the consumer was told that a pin was off-shift and that the problem was resolved, consumer opened arbitration case. Nlm
Excessive wear of brake pads and front rotors; at 10,000 miles dealer had to replace front rotors and pads. Currently, at 21,000 miles, problem reoccurred. Problem with headlight not aligned. Dealer informed that vehicle met manufacturer's specification and nothing else could be done. Also, water pump failure. Dealer notified, and repairs being made. Consumer states that the transmission fluid is not good and Toyota refuses to test the fluids.
We have several problems with this car. The car hesitates when you take off. The dealership has had it (this will make) 5 times since March 31,1999. They have had it for weeks at a time. The brakes make noises when they are applied. They said they replaced the vents but we still have a problem with them. We still, after all those times in the shop, have the same orginal problems as before we ever went to the shop. We have found out that they have even lied to us when we were buying the car. They told us it was a limited edition and it isn't. they were the orginal owners, they were not. They won't give us the name of the orginal owner. (found this out during arbitration) there are several things wrong with this car. And can't find any help on the situtation. Please advise.
