will not reverse
I'm very disappointed with the initial approach of our local Toyota dealer to the repair. I was advised that I need a new transmission for a 3 year old car at a cost of $9500.00 to replace, but the car operates perfectly I all forward gears. the transmission went from working fine to not operating at all. fortunately the car was not in a position to have to reverse to move. my thinking was that it may be a sensor or bad connection. but told, a new transmission at $9.5K. was needed. We also own a Toyota Yaris purchased 2005 and light ace van 2007 as a taxi. we have had no problems with any of our other vehicles, hence our decision to buy the Avanza as a taxi. We went back to our dealer expressing our displeasure and were advised that they will try to work something out with their Toyota supplier. we love the car it's just what we want BUT...We are committed Toyota owners and feel our commitment is being tested.

Update from Dec 14, 2015: The response from Bermuda Motors. I was advised by the manager that he will write to Toyota to ask for a what he called a "care package". I called every week for that last three weeks and was told he has not had a chance to make contact with Toyota. Disappointed to say the least, but trying to understand and give the manager time, I called on Friday afternoon, to be told by the manager in his words "that there is nothing that he can do, because the taxi was not regularly serviced by the dealer" I had to end the call as I was very upset at the managers response after waiting three weeks for a reply. the Taxi is still parked, and we are still paying the note with no income. This situation is threatening and could well put us out of our taxi business. I have written to the General manager of Bermuda Motors hoping for a more positive solution to our problem. this situation is certainly putting a bad light on this Toyota dealer. I'm a marine mechanic. do all minor service on all my Toyota's, we take them to BDA motors for any other work be mechanical or body work. I'm still sold on Toyota just upset at Bda motors so far. The quote for repair or replace $9500.00 1/3 the price of the vehicle.
