Complaint against Toyota comments: Sirs, July 29, 2010 - Toyota motor sales, Inc. Issued a recall for model year 2000-2004 Toyota Avalons. Toyota stated that customers will be notified "...beginning in late August 2010 to bring their vehicles to their Toyota dealer for replacement of the steering column bracket..." as of today, October 6, 2010, notification has not be sent to me. Although I have had the part replaced, the replacement was due only to my diligence and not to the prudence of Toyota. I feel sympathy for those drivers who may have been involved in a needless accident because they were unaware of the danger that could occur due a failure of a part of their automobile. I recommend that NHTSA investigate this situation at Toyota.
