I purchased my 2014 limited 4Runner all wheel drive in January of 2020. The problem is that when you get to 58-64 mph, the steering wheel shakes vigorously - there are several videos online of others with the same problem. Not only does it shimmy and shake but it also pulls to the right. This is exactly what EVERYONE else is experiencing with the 5th gen 4 runner. I have taken it to several shops and had multiple alignments, several tire balances and rotations. My wheels and tires are perfect on the tire balancer.
Other items that have been checked or replaced include transfer case bushings, rack and pinion and bushings, new wheel hubs, new tires, new rotors, road force balancing, The only answer I ever get is they don't know how to fix it. The problem exist on all 4 runners 4wd & 2wd from 2010 to 2020. Brand New ones on the dealer lot are having the same issue. I have filed with NHTSA. I know several people that have filed with nhtsa as well.
This issue needs to be recalled! A class action lawsuit needs to be filed. One person claims they are in the process of filing the lawsuit. Toyota needs to take action before someone is hurt. The vehicle is almost scary to drive at 55-65 mph. If an inexperienced driver was behind the wheel I feel like they would crash. Toyota needs to correct the problem! Please help.
