I went through a new car wash, might not have anything to do with the problem but it started just after. About 1/2 mile down the street my suv just died. Was lucky to pull into a neighborhood and into a nice families driveway. The battery had been replaced three years prior. I had a personal jump starter so we tried that. It would crank then die. Also had just gotten an oil change and new tires. There was approximately 1/8 of a tank of gas. It sounded like a gas problem. Took several hours for the tow truck to arrive and he offered to bring extra gas just in case it was a gas issue. I’ve had this SUV for several years, had one before it. I knew it wasn’t a gas issue. Had it towed to a mechanic I’ve used before and he couldn’t help.
Had it towed to Arlington Toyota and they said that I had several problems. Battery for starts, brake pads, rotors,… all which were replace a year ago by Goodyear. I had them replace the battery but thought there might be a computer issue. Two rental cars later, four tow truck and I’m back at square one. Dead SUV in my driveway. The second time I took it back to the dealership they said they had to recalibrate my ECU. Dropped off the rental car, $396 paid, drove wonderful until it didn’t. Same issue. They think I need a new ECU. Unfortunately when I talked to my contact at Toyota they wouldn’t give me a quote. I know the part is only about $3-400 but I’m afraid that Toyota will take me to the cleaners. I’m in my house right now not knowing which direction to go in. If anyone has any good advice, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Jennifer’s
