Took my 4Runner to get the oil changed and mechanic pointed out that the frame was badly rusted and advised me take vehicle to Toyota for their opinion. Toyota service man indicated that they did not have a recall out for this year and model vehicle. Suggested I call Toyota Corporate and they said the same thing, no recalls for this specific vehicle. Now I have a vehicle that is in good shape mechanically, but I cannot operate due to rusted frame. What can I do or what options do I have?
The totally rusted frame was examined by my husband while he was replacing the muffler and tailpipe. (He replaced the radiator too. ) Handy as he is, he didn't even want me to see the under body of the truck.. I think because he knows we can't afford a newer vehicle for me. And he knows how much I love my 4runner. It's my second one. Had a 1995 I loved too. Drove that until the body was practically falling off, sold for $250 and three more folks drove it after that! Know I want another 4runner. But this frame looks really really bad. I live in the salt belt but wash my truck as often as possible in the winter, always selecting under body spray. Will ask to have 4runner lifted up again to take photos or video.
