On 11/18/2017, we took granddaughter, one year old, to "Kidquest Museum" in Bellevue, Wa, around 4:00 P.M. in our TESLA Model X. This museum has a small parking lot of 100 ft x 100ft. We took left turn into the parking lot and trying to figure out where to park the car. We take out grandkids almost once a week to this place. While I was trying to figure where to park, our car accelerated at unbelievable speed, went and hit a parked Chevy van. This van went upside down over a fence and fell in parking lot next to it. Then our Model X went and hit an electrical pole, went over an electrical box of 5 ft x 5 ft. It all happened in split second. Fortunately all the airbags came out. My wife was in the passenger seat. I could not open my door. Someone at the museum opened her door. First she came out. they opened the rear driver side door, pulled out my granddaughter. I came out thru the passenger side door. Fortunately we all walked out without any injuries. Also, we were incredible lucky because there are kids most of the time and none at that time.
Our car as well as the car we hit are totaled. Chevy van we hit saved our lives. It kind of stopped the car. We can not comprehend how such an accident can happen? Why did the car accelerate like that? Secondly what happened to all those emergency systems? 8 cameras, sensors? Are they not supposed to sense and stop?
We think it some kind of malfunctioning of system. What are we supposed to do? We are taking to tour insurance to get investigated.
