Like other Subaru Crosstreks, ours was using oil. We had it changed every 5,000 miles. At 91,000 miles it blew a valve spring, damaging the valve and who knows what else. It's been in the shop for two weeks now; they may have to replace the engine. Fortunately we had Mechanical Breakdown Insurance, $250 deductible.
