I bought my Subaru Outback 2023 on Oct 18,2022 and in January I could not start the Outback because the battery was dead after the Outback sat for 1 week. I ended up charging the battery overnight and it was able to start so I drove it 40+ miles to let the alternator top it off. This happened every time the Outback sat for 5 days or more. I called the dealer and really voiced a loud complaint to the service manager and he wanted me to have my Outback towed to Gerald Subaru in North Aurora, Il. I refused so they sent a technician to use a battery pack to jump the Outback and it started. They left an Ascent loaner and took my Outback to test the battery and indicated it past Subaru battery tests, I got my Outback back the same day but the problem persisted any time the Outback sat for a few days.

In June I had to jump the Outback with my wife's Hyundai. Two days later I made sure the battery that the battery was fully charged by trickle charging the battery for 12 hours. I made 2 trips to the local Home Improvement store (Menards) 6 miles away and on the second trip the darn battery died again. I had to wake up my wife to jump start the Outback again. Boy was she pissed by being woken up and loosing sleep. She gets up for work at 4am. The next day I called the service manager to retest and replace the battery after I was able to jump start it with two battery chargers(not recommended).

I drove to Gerald Subaru and complained that since buying the Outback the battery died over 12 times. It is 14 miles to Gerald Subaru so the battery should have started the Outback when they tried starting it to move it from the service bay but the battery was dead and they had to use a battery pack to move it into the garage. They retested the battery per Subaru guidelines and found that the battery was bad with an error code. Gerald Subaru replaced the stock battery with a 750amp Subaru battery.

I will wait and see if the parasitic discharge on the battery will drain the battery to the point where it won't start between 3 and 5 days. I am very aggravated with what KBB indicated was a reliable car. How can it be reliable with a parasitic discharge on the electrical system and the battery?. So far after 6 months I am pissed off that I bought a 2023 Subaru Outback it is a piece of junk IMHO..

Multiple times dead battery on start. Now keep jump cables in car. Brought in for service and was told battery tested fine (cables not disconnected per service rep, was this a voltage test only?). So, if still fails, (which it will at the worst time), please bring the vehicle in and they will let sit for a day or two and then test again. No effort for any positive corrective action was even taken, maybe a step 1? - maybe replace battery? I didn't bring it in because the vehicle MIGHT not start because of dead battery! Love the vehicle but have lost the confidence when traveling about. Ordered a smart jump to keep in car.
