Day 1: I live 175 miles from the dealer and on the way home I didn't notice anything strange until I got off of the freeway and off the cruise control. Several times the car just veered off the road like I was on ice or a gust of wind hit me hard. Scared the living crap out of me. I have been driving over 50 years with many different cars and have never experienced anything like this. I am devastated because I spent a year researching cars and choose the Subaru for dependability in all weather conditions. Apparently dry pavement in a wind free day is not one of them. I will continue to drive it and take it to the dealer but in the long run I guess all I can do is sell it and move on. A very expensive mistake if they can't find out what is wrong. If you are reading this and are contemplating buying a Subaru, think long and hard since from what I am reading Subaru has yet to address this very dangerous flaw.

Update from May 7, 2019: A discussion with the dealers manager suggests that I might have had lane assist on, which, on country roads with intermittent or badly lined areas, the lane assist will take over and nudge you back into your lane. I am not sure nudge is the right word for my experience but I am going to turn it off on my trip out of town tomorrow to test it. I live on rural county roads so I can buy into this idea of lane assist. We will see. You also have to turn lane assist off every time you restart the car.
