Subaru considers triggering your oil level sensor light every 6001 km normal. This level of oil burn is where my 2002 Outback was when it was 'young'. I'm worried that since the car is only a few years old this will get worse and worse. It's already progressively getting worse slowly but not enough to fit their definition of consumption.
I've only had this amount of burn in old Subarus and I thought we were done with this. Sadly I'll have to go with a Honda or Toyota next as this is pretty ridiculous.
I've had to bring this to Subaru Canada and 3rd party arbitration, as its been floated that I might need a new short block at $5000-$7000 even though I'm in warranty still.
The white smoke out the back is especially noticeable in the winter, no leaks.
