problem #4

Jan 022019

Outback Limited 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 10,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Was driving on a busy road when the car decided to shut off randomly. Had to pull over while it was off, put it on park and restart vehicle. No explanation of why it happened. Took it to dealership and of course they can find nothing wrong with the vehicle. Expected more from a new vehicle. Also have many battery issues as well, but will file a separate complaint.

Jan 122019

Outback ES 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 13,000 miles

While driving approx 25 MPH, vehicle completely shut down! I was able to pull over to side of road. Restarted engine, drove another 1/4 mile and car shut down again. I was fortunate that this happened near enough to the Subaru dealer that I was able to restart the car and make it the 2 blocks to the dealership/service center.

I was a bit frazzled to say the least. The service manager, Mark, was great and immediately got me a loaner to use as they wanted to investigate the issue and it was late in the day on a Saturday.

Still waiting to find out the cause of the issue. Initial scan of the computer codes did not indicate anything out of the ordinary. The gas light has since come on and now I'm thinking it is part of the recall issued due to gas gauge not reading correctly, displaying vehicle has gas while in fact tank may be empty.

We bought this vehicle specifically because I felt safe driving it. This incident has me now doubting that. If I had been on a highway or a more congested street where I was not able to pull the dead car over to the side, it could have been a much worse outcome.

Outback Limited

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,000 miles

Three times now my brand new 2018 Outback has turn off while driving. I almost got rear ended all three times. Car acts like it is out of gas, but restarted each time. I took it back to he dealership and after two hours they told me to just keep the tank full and wait for the remedy from Subaru. The dealer does not have the information to fix the car. They said sometime during the first quarter of 2019! This is nuts. I am worried while driving that it will happen again. I was at the dealership two weeks ago for the 6,000 mile service and no one mentioned this recall.

Extremely disappointed so far with Subaru.

Aug 252018

Outback Limited 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,500 miles

I recently purchased a 2018 Outback. I was driving it going about 25 mph and it shut down out of nowhere, lights came on, gas pedal wouldn't work, the only way I got it to go was shutting it off completely and restarting it.

They car has 3500 miles, I dropped it off at the dealership on 8/25 and they have had it since. They replaced the fuel pump saying it was the cause of it shutting down on me. I really don't believe them because if it was the fuel pump, it wouldn't have started up and let me drive to them.

I am still waiting on them to call me and tell me its ready to pick up. I can tell you if I would have been driving on the highway this could have caused a MAJOR accident and most likely killed me or someone else.
