Started having a problem removing the key from the ignition a few months after I got car. Was told to "just wiggle the steering wheel and try again". This usually worked. But very frustrating.
In December this problem started occurring more often. After the first of this year it happened every couple of days and several times a day. Last week I was finally able to get a service appointment. They could not duplicate the key not turning off while in park. So they wouldn't do anything about it. Was told to bring it back and leave it for a few days and they would try again. Who has the ability to be without your car that long and they did not offer a loaner.
While I was waiting 2 other Subaru outback owners brought their cars in with the same problem. 1 actually got it fixed the other didn't.
Subaru seems to know there is a problem but is not fixing or recalling vehicles.
I am very angry with the treatment I had. My car is still under warranty until the end of May and I want this fixed before the warranty expires. The car has less than 15000 miles on it so it shouldn't be having these issues.
I USED to love my Outback but now I'm almost afraid to drive it and be stuck somewhere not able to turn the car off and remove the key
The key will not come out of the ignition, I have complained to the dealer since I bought it and get a freaking runaround. I have to cycle the gear handle several times by starting and re starting my car to get the key out. After approx 10 minutes of F ing with it, the key will eventually come out, it’s just a pain in the ass. I believe it to have something to do with the transmission?
