So here is the story. Wheel bearings are the major defects of 2015 Subaru Outback!!! They need to fix it by providing extended warranty or other solutions.

My first wheel bearing is worn out just after one year I purchased this vehicle. Less than 20k miles. I thought it was just my bad luck. The dealer gives loaner car and I waited for a whole week to fix.

The second time, I slid my car to the curb (very small curb, less than 2 inches high) with less than 5 miles /hr. (Just start the car during a snow day and it slides... It happened this Feb, with about 40k miles. Wheel bearings, struts, wheels (only small scratch, but the dealer recommended to change), joints, almost everything broke..... Hardly believe... Change everything by insurance (I still pay the high deductible). The insurance cost is over $2000 (*Yes, my premium will go up for a long time....)

Today! The third time, I heard the familiar noise coming from my wheels. Less than 50k, another wheel bearing worn out!!! Cannot believe it! Dealer also told me my rear brake worn out (I accepted that considering I owned it for 4 years). But what? The wheel bearings are worn out again?? That looks like a joke!

Started in 2016, I felt this car droves pretty loose, I mean the chassis. The driving quality downgrades badly. I felt less confident in this car.

I am a Subie fan, and I'd like to warn people to stay away from it from now....

Outback Limited 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 23,677 miles

Abnormal noise started when mileage on my 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5 limited was around 10,000 miles. Noise started to grow with increasing mileages and finally decided to get it fixed at the dealer. They found it's a defective RH Front Hub Bearing Unit. This should have lasted for car's life. I am sure other customer also have same problem and do not know what is the real problem? Company should look into this problem in detail. The repair is done at Byers Subaru at Dublin, OH.
