CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 Outback is showing an early trend of problems with hesitation when accelerating. Read more »
The vast majority of owners experiencing this problem have reported that Subaru has not been able to find the cause of the engine hesitation, or fix the problem.
Especially because this is a potential safety defect, we are flagging the 2014 Outback as a model year to watch out for.
My cars been awesome for years but suddenly felt like it slipped into neutral and all dash lights flashed. 2 transmission tests revealed it needs to be replaced. How can this be in a 7 year old car with only 100k miles on it. Aren't Subarus supposed to go to 300k?
While driving to work all the warning lights began to flash. After work I called my dealer and was told not to drive the car. (This was unfortunate because I planned to take a long trip the next day.) I had the car towed to a local mechanic who diagnosed that is was the transmission; however only a Subaru dealer could repair because it had to be reprogrammed. So I had the car towed 20 miles to the nearest dealership. The dealership solved the problem by replacing the transmission valve body. Then I was good to go. I didn't have warranty and had to pay in full out of pocket.
2014 outback 2.5 was serviced 4/21/17 by dealer for the 60,000+ service . Car appeared to run normal until 6/3/17 when all the warning lights lit up. Am told problem is Transmission Valve Body failure. Cost to replace $2050. Must be a defective product to fail this soon? Am told "things happen" and not warranted. Has anyone else had this problem?
