Can't believe that we could not get an inspection sticker for our 2011 Outback (with only 17K miles) from the service dept of the Suburu dealership. They said the rear struts are "leaking" and we need a new one. I told them there was no leakage visible on the garage floor, and that the ride seemed fine. He said this is "rare" but it is leaking so we cannot get an inspection sticker until we return and have rear strut replaced. We bought the car brand new, and it has never once been driven off road, only driven on paved roads around town and the highway. How is it even possible to need new rear struts now?? It is under warranty, but the reason we purchased a suburu was because it had a good repair record. Wondering if anyone else has encountered problem with rear struts on a new car with low mileage, and what it means that it is "leaking". Of course, the car is "on record" now as flunking the inspection so we will be forced to get it repaired immediately in order to be driving the car legally. REALLY ticks me off to have something like this go wrong at 17K miles!!!
