Drove my car a few miles and then stopped at a stop light on a 4 lane road in the city. When the light turned green I stepped on the throttle and got no response. Put the transmission in park and back into drive and still nothing. Turned the car off and back on and engine responded to throttle.
Major safety issue - vehicle has started stalling when coming to a stop or slowing down while starting to turn. This has almost caused several accidents for my wife turning out onto the highway. I was told by a Subaru mechanic that Subaru issued a recall, but I can't find it. This has been going on for about 2 months now.
Car in park, ignition off. Entered car and started to move car approximately 30-25' to park in front of garage. Steel garage door down. Proceeded to garage door 1-2 mph with foot on break. Car accelerated at high speed and could not stop or slow down car and it crashed through garage door and was stoped by boxes at back of garage. Acceleration sudden and high with no indication of why. Car damaged due to debris from fragments of steel door mostly on top and front and driver side of car. Airbag did not deploy. Car in my driveway at time of accident. Mechanic unable to determine cause. Records available.
When trying to speed up from a rolling stop/yield the car hesitated to shift and would not go forward. Then all of a sudden the transmission made a loud "clunk" and quickly shot forward. The problem affected my ability to safely merge into traffic. This has been an on-going problem and the dealer will not admit this is a defect.
