My Subaru Outback Limited, best trim, has defective leather. It developed a small wear spot which grew into a hole in the seat bolster after only a few thousand miles, Subaru claims that I must carry sharp tools in my back pocket or a wallet which is causing the hole. I never have tools in my pocket or in my car. I do not even own a wallet. I carry my money in my front pocket. I am the only driver. Clearly there is something unusual in the construction of this particular car seat. Putting a new seat cover on it is just putting a band aid on an existing problem. Subaru covered the seat the first time under warranty. Subaru, Rafferty of Newtown Square, charged me $100 to replace the care seat cover the second time, which happened after only 7,000 miles. Subaru said that they would not pay to recover the seat if it happened again. After 7,000 miles the seat developed a new hole in exactly the same spot as before. I called Subaru of America and they sent a regional rep to look at the car. I was not present when he was supposedly looking at it. Subaru repeated their story that I was doing something to cause the hole in the seat. I have owned many cars and always take very good care of them. I have never experienced anything like this. I am convinced that Subaru is using defective leather or faux leather in this section of the seat for this particular color and model. I want Subaru to fix my car seat so it stays fixed, not some silly bandaid patch.
