Steering did not return to neutral position after making a right turn, steering wanted to continue on right turn. I was able to pull it back to straight position with some needed force. I don't believe my wife would be able, after initial surprise, to steer back into lane of traffic. Result could have been an accident. I have not reproduced the problem at dealer or independent service facility or by manufacturer and because of no accident police or insurance co. not called. There were no warning signs. I just recently pudchased this vehicle within past week. I would call your attention to the articles on internet describing the problem and how to repair I don't think I should pay for repair as it is a recurring problem with other cars by same manufacturer. I'm having issues with the steering column and getting the key out. I'm not able to remove the key most days. Was this in any part of any known recall? thank you
Experienced difficulty removing key from ignition after vehicle is stopped and engine turned off. Issue recurs frequent but randomly. Sometimes it require several attempts to restart and shut-off engine before key would release from ignition. Vehicle was returned to dealer for repair and faulty part in shifter assembly replaced.
Am able to shift into park and turn off the ignition but not able to remove key. It takes several tries to shift gears until able to turn the key to release it. This was happening for a while and stopped and has started doing it more consistently now.
Key will not remove from ignition when turning off car. Progressively got more frequent. Only way to remove the key is to move the car or to shift back in forth from park to drive. Part had to be replaced

May of 2017 I was driving North bound on 294. As I was going through the curve the power steering light came on the car wouldn't turn back. I stop and was able to pull the car off the road with no incident. I called sis it's a D asked if was a safety recall. I was told no. I then had them to the car to Subaru of America in orland park il. When the car was frosted told I was told the car would be fix it was common problem with the power steering motor. Subaru of America then contacted me saying the car was involved in accident so it wouldn't be fixed. Once they found out I was black. I filed a better business report Subaru still denied the claim telling to use my insurance my insuwpuldnt pay said it defect part. Subaru failed to examine the underlying problem before denying the claim. Subaru immediately blamed me but never checking the problem. Once I received the car back. It was in worst condition. The car cane back in worst conditions bumper peeling fender smashed. I was told that was my fault the car came back worst. That interfered with the other things in warranty being repaired L was diagnosed with big C. in 2017 now back to ok health I can proceed with process. I rented cars for a year and then eventually brought one. I need Subaru to repair the car I want to keep it.
When resumed cruise control, it did not. Instead the steering wheel was uncontrollable and had no direction. Was on interstate 84west in ct. Put on break and then was able to stop the vehicle on side of road. Went to the dealer and told no issue. Also have had gear shifting problems. Was in touch less car wash where the car is in park and when told (flashing sign) to move forward the car would not go into drive. After several attempts, shut car off and then was able to put in drive. On occasions the shifting gear has not remained in park and vehicle has moved forward.
The contact owns a 2016 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle veered left and right independently. The contact mentioned that force was required to the steering wheel. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed but the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 400....updated 6/30/16 the consumer stated it difficult to keep the vehicle straight. The vehicle was aligned twice. Updated 07/11/16.
The contact owns a 2016 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated that the power steering assist failed and the steering wheel was veering right and left. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided no diagnosis and no repair solution. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V292000 (steering). The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer several times and was unable to contact them. The failure mileage was not available.
The contact owns a 2016 Subaru Legacy. While driving approximately 75 mph, the vehicle rolled over a bump in the road and became uncontrollable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed twelve times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 500.
