The oil light would go on at least 1000 miles before each oil change was due. The oil level was at least one quart low each time. The first time this happened was in advance of my second oil change when the car was very new. I did not report it and did not take it in for repair -- I just ate the cost each time. I didn't notice any oil leaks or any burning smell.

I’ve had the car for approx 6000 miles. I’m on my second oil change and have added 3 quarts of oil. Taking the car in this week. No leaks, no burning smell. I’ll be so disgusted if this is the same issue from the class action. I drive 100 miles a day. It’s so annoying to carry quarts of oil with me and add a quarts every other week.

My Subaru Legacy was 5000 miles into the 6000 mile oil change when my oil light came on. When the mechanic pulled the dip stick out it was completely dry. He added a quart of oil and seemed to be okay when he checked it again. Now my Subaru is again 5000 miles into the 6000 mile oil change and my oil light came on again. Went to a different mechanic and again when he pulled the dip stick it out it was dry. He was shocked. He put a quart of oil in and low and behold it was okay.

I called Bill Kolb Subaru and spoke to their service department. They were trying to tell me this is normal and that there was nothing wrong with the car. So I sent an e-mail and the service manager called me. He again said this was normal and there was nothing wrong with the car. He asked if I had a leak and I told him no. When it happened the first time, the mechanic checked for a leak and did not find one.

I don't appreciate being jerked around. He then told me he would do a few tests and maybe change the PCV valve on it and when can I bring it in. Since I work 6 days a week I told him I had to take a day off and would bring it in for them to do the testing. Now I am just trying to figure out when I can take off.

I need a reliable car as I do a lot of driving and am upset with this as I learned Subaru is known for oil consumption in their vehicles and they are trying to deny this.
