I live on a gravel driveway about 1/4 mile long and keep getting small rocks up in the undercarriage. This has happened now 6 times where I have to take the car to a mechanic. The noise the gravel makes a sound like a exhaust or muffler that is loose. It is very annoying and makes the car sound like something is falling off. Frankly it is also embarrassing since I only have 36,000 miles on it. Now that My warranty just ran out the mechanic said it will cost about $100 to remove the rocks. According to the Subaru dealer there is nothing they can do. Does this mean that you can't buy a Subaru and live on a gravel drive or take the care on a trip where a gravel road exists? This makes no sense and I can't find where anyone else has had this problem. Do I have a lemon? I have made a conscious decision to replace the car. I live in Colorado and like a 4 wheel drive sedan so the search now begins. My advice, don't buy a Subaru if you live on gravel roads or will be driving the car on gravel roads.
