The car started throwing codes for misfires. We took it to the dealership, and they said they had no idea- they would start with the plugs. I replaced the plugs myself, and it still threw codes - misfire. Took it back to dealership. They did not have clue what was wrong with it. It took them about two weeks to figure out 2 piston rings, and a cylinder head needed to be replaced. At this point, they have had it for over three weeks, and it does not seem they will have it fixed until about 5 weeks after arrival. They still have no idea what caused the problem, and tried to blame us for driving it too much. I have meticulously done scheduled maintenance. I have repeatedly asked for a new engine, or further coverage on the engine because we are almost through the 60 k drivetrain warranty. They flatly refuse, telling me the warranty is the warranty. They also assure me about how well they will fix it, but when they do not know what caused the failure of multiple parts on the engine (meaning it was not just one fluke defective part), how can they assure me it is fixed?? I will certainly never buy a Subaru again, and have been very disappointed in their willingness to stand by their product.
