I read that it is likely that it is caused by an open diode in the alternator because that is a common problem with Subaru but there is also a class action lawsuit involving newer Subaru models that involves the CAN (controller area network) that does not properly go into sleep mode when the ignition is off causing excessive battery drain when the car is off. If this is the same thing then obviously, older models should be included in the action.
