clutch brake pedal assembly shifting causing hard shifting
The entire brake and clutch pedal assembly shift to the left when the clutch pedal is depressed. A year ago no significant problem other than shifting of the pedals. Now it is hard to shift into reverse. This is a common problem with the 08+ impreza with manual transmission. The poor spot weld of the pedal assembly to the fire wall is the cause of the problem. Subaru of North America have not and will not issue a recall for the problem.
Update from Oct 6, 2016: The other day when it was very difficult to shift into 1st and reverse, and the creaking and popping sound become very obvious, I took the car into an independent shop, Since contact with Subaru USA. they said it is not their problem, therefore repair will have to be made by the owner. Mechanic took the dash apart and fixed the problem with bolts and nuts and adjustment of the clutch linkage. I added the clutch cylinder support brace from Circuit Motorsport, to help decrease the flexing of the firewall.
