It's really frustrating that I paid over $800 to replace my windshield back in August 2019. I had a fracture that originated near the wiper parking on the lower part of the windshield. I went back to my Subaru dealer and had a proper Subaru Carlex windshield (OEM) installed. At that time, I had only owned the car for approximately 7 months.
Cue to 8 months later, and a new crack has formed on the windshield and has grown significantly over a very short period of a few days. Again I have approached Subaru, this time claiming that there must be a defect. It's too convenient that over the course of 15 months of ownership, my brand new Subaru would need 2 windshield replacements.
The dealership has offered to file a claim with Subaru Corporate, but they have advised me that they do not feel it is a defect, but rather a string of bad luck. I don't buy that. I am hesitant to trust another Subaru Carlex windshield, especially if i wind up stuck having to pay out of pocket again. Something needs to be done to acknowledge and address this issue.
