December 2018 cruise control light started flashing as I was driving. I took car in while under warranty and Subaru service could not determine problem. In mid September 2019, cruise control light was flashing and check engine light on which I have been told is a sort of WARNING that something is amiss. Again I took it in to Subaru service and told was rodent damage (eating wiring) due to soy based covering and/or insulation. On Oct 3, 2019 had repair done and took their suggested measures (clean engine plus spray solution of water and ammonia).
Two days later again check engine and cruise control lights back on again (WARNING), so I took it to Subaru service October 24, 2019 and told same issue of rodent damage (eating wiring). Other suggestions were made to hopefully help this issue such as peppermint oil, Irish Spring soap, which were done but to no avail. Now I have paid out of pocket $449! November 12, 2019 another check engine and cruise control lights on (WARNING). Now have contacted Subaru Corp. and case file set up, but was told that this issue was handled (whatever that means). My response was so now I will have to pay for all new wiring for 2017 car which means I will be paying for said car TWICE! Please note there was a lawsuit filed in Hawaii of this rodent/soy based issue.
Have been told to take it back into local Subaru service to see what the problem is on a very new car (2017) with low mileage.
Purchased Subaru vehicle because of previous quality product, but am so disgusted and frustrated with this current vehicle, which I'm still paying for, so BUYER BEWARE!
